What's Khmer mean?
Khmer refers to the dominant ethnic group in modern and ancient
Cambodia.
Cambodia is located in Southeast Asia, bordering with Vietnam, Lao, and Thailand, and the south links to the Sea. The population now is nearly
14 million and the state religion is Buddhism.

Cambodia has a long history and great civilization, revealed by the remaining monuments in the Angkor area- Angkor wat, "one of the UNESCO world heritage sites" with Bayon, Baphoun, Taprom and preah vihear temples.....
These indicated that Cambodia used to be a great empire which dominated the land that now is Thailand, Lao, and the south of Vietnam. During the 9th- 12th century, Cambodia become strong country, the economy grew, trade was made with China, India, and some countries in Europe along the Mediterranean sea by ship. The ancient port name: OKEO port, was at the south of the Khmer empire (today in the south of Vietnam). The Indian trade took the religion and Sanskrit (alphabet) to the one of these indianised states - the Khmer empire. This promoted the king to build several temples throughout the whole country.
